Fresh Vegetables are Back!

A small butterhead lettuce ready for harvest

A small butterhead lettuce ready for harvest

Hi all,

Farmers’ market season officially begins tomorrow – from 10am-2pm at Hingham Bathing Beach! We’ll have (at least to start the day) baby butterhead lettuce, baby spinach and arugula, our new colorful salad mix, French breakfast radishes, pea shoots, micro greens, and African spinach. If you’re any bit like me, you’ve been craving fresh salad greens all winter, and now’s your chance to stock up for the week. Though Saturday won’t be a veritable ‘beach day,’ we’d love to see you nonetheless!

Things are progressing well on the farm, though I’d say it’s still in the ‘tune-up’ phase. It’s like my ’97 pick-up truck that I use for just about everything on the farm– when I go to turn it on in April, it doesn’t exactly work or sound like how I left it in December.  And while the truck emerges from the auto shop in less than a week, the farm’s tune-up phase lasts for much longer. I gauge my progress through the decreasing amount of ‘oh yeah’ moments (as in ‘oh yeah, this is how I’m supposed to manage a crew’), and know that before long, the farm will be back to running like a well-oiled machine.

CSA UPDATE
CSA members still have a couple weeks until the Spring CSA begins, as we wait until we have more variety than just salad greens and radishes. Our Hingham Spring CSA begins on Saturday, May 20th and our Norton CSA on Tuesday, May 23rd. We’ll send you an email reminder as the date approaches!

Our Summer CSAs are filling up quickly, with less than 10 spots remaining at each pick-up location. Reserve your spot before they sell out!

Thanks for reading, and I hope to see you Saturday!

Best,
Adam
